A Little of This and a Little of That

Amazing GraceMany of you have prayed for my niece. She was in a motor vehicle accident on March 3. She was in the passenger seat of this car. Do you see the car door on top of the roof? Rescuers had to used the Jaws of Life to extract her from the wreckage. She sustained a broken pelvis. She has been on using a walker or crutches to maneuver, but has mostly been on bed or chair rest. Because her bedroom occupies the second floor of her home, she has been living at my mom’s house. Which means that my sister and her five-year-old daughter are living at my mom’s home too.

Beginning Monday, my niece was able to start walking without crutches, sort of. The muscles in her leg are extremely atrophied. She is still using her crutches most of the time because she doesn’t feel her leg is strong enough to support her weight. She is doing physical therapy three days a week. Yesterday she was able to lift her leg up against one whole pound of weight! She was not amused. I think somehow she thought that she was going to be able to run a marathon the first day she was given permission to ditch her crutches.

Next, I had mentioned that there were two babies from Haiti on their way to the states for surgery. You can read their updates here, here and here

Praises to God for orchestrating healing!

Finally, I want to let you know that my virtual friend Heidi is having a contest. The prize is a copy of Homeschool Video Field Trips on DVD.

All you have to do to win them is post a reply to this thread ~ telling me about your MOST MEMORABLE FIELD TRIP EVER~

I am glad your neice is making progress although it is very slow to her. Looking at the car all you can do is say Praise the Lord?

I’m glad you updated us on your niece. I had forgotten all about the accident.

Thanks for the reminder. I think I would be just as impatient for full recovery as she seems to be.
