Shanan Trail

My State of the Household Address

Current WeatherYesterday, it was a balmy almost 40 degrees in Central Minnesota. The weather was gorgeous; it was easy to pretend that winter was almost over. But, Madame Winter has pulled a fast one yet again. My it’s nippy out there!

So, in honor of the fact that I am dreaming of a much different climate, I decided to try SimpleFolk’s Pistachio Inside Outside Cake. The color was a perfect pastel green. This new dessert was a hit at our house; it was cool and fresh and reminded me of spring.

Pistachio Inside Outside Cake

Maybe I should have saved it for March and made it on St Patrick’s day!

Finally, can you guess what this is:

My 'Scrapbook' Area

Do you give up? Well, I’ll tell you then. Remember when I told you about spilling glitter all over my house? Well, my husband has made giving me an arts and craft area in the basement a priority! Yeah me. I am so very blessed with a husband who gives me good gifts. Oh, I know it doesn’t look like much yet, but there is going to be a desk, a place to store my stamps, ink, paper, scissors… you know “my stuff.” There is going to be electricity so that I can use my heat embossing embossing tool. There is going to be a good light so I can see what I am doing. And, the very best part! I can use my supplies in the same place they are stored! No more carrying things up and down. The dining room table will not have anymore glue or ink stains and all the spilled glitter will be downstairs. Why, picking up will be a breeze.

I may take advantage of my right to blog without obligation for the next couple of days. I have written so much about the government minding its financial house, I better take care of mine. I need to balance the checkbook, pay bills and file our taxes.

I’d rather (way rather) be blogging! :???:

Oh I had that once, I remember! It was a hugh basement so big we had stamping nights at my house! I miss all my stamping stuff shoved away, missing daylight. I now have to trudge to the table, take out a million rubbermaid boxes, find the few things I wanted and get glitter all overmy livingroom too!

    You are so loved!

Oh COOL! (…the weather AND your arts and crafts area!) ;-)

Your cake looks fantastic, too. Maybe that’ what I should be doing…baking! Heat up this house with the oven, and get some good treats to boot.

I really think I have that seasonal-disorder this year. Normally I can tough it out through the winters , but this one is really getting to me. That groundhog better not see his shadow next week because I NEED spring! ;-)
    Blessings,
    Michelle

The weather did the same thing here, except it was in the 60s yesterday. Today we had a snow storm.
So glad you get a crafting area. Although I don’t have to haul from the basement anymore, I would love to have a designated place rather than the dining room table, because I have to clean that. :)

I’m so excited for you! My little craft area has become everyone’s craft area, but at least we can work without having to clear off the table three times a day for meals.

How nice to get a room of one’s own. What a thoughtful husband you have.

I love pistachios and will have to take a look at this recipe.
