Impromptu Photos

I love that the staff at the orphanage is very good about sending us photo updates of the kids every month. We get to see that they’re healthy. We get an updated height and weight. We don’t get an update on where they are developmentally. No, “David took his first step.” or “Beverly is learning to share with other children. She is quite a chatterbox.” The monthly update photos are sometimes rather “posed.” I imagine the children being snatched from their play group or classroom, getting their hair done, changed quickly into photo appropriate clothes and told to stand with their arms around each other. Sometimes they cooperate; sometimes they don’t. Sometimes the look at the camera; sometimes they smile. As much as I love those photos, I adore and just go nuts when someone posts unposed photos of my kids being kids. Aren’t these photos great?
