Yesterday in the travel section was a nice story of a woman adopting a child from El Salvador. I’m sure you can relate with the waiting. I hope you find the story encouraging.

Julie,
I have a friend that was adopted and she always called her moms “my birth mother and my earth mother.”

She said that her birth mother was the woman who physically gave her life, but their connection stopped there.
But then she said her earth mother would go, “to the ends of the earth” for her.

Marissa is blessed to have you for an ‘earth mother.’

I agree that Birthmother Day is well-intentioned but doesn’t quite fit. Right now, my son is too angry/ambivalent talk about her, but we wouldn’t have any way to find her even if he did. I think that bothers me more than it does him right now, but we’ll see what the future holds.

I read Parade Magazine every Sunday – even referred to it on my blog once. Yesterday there was a 2-page article by Jacquelyn Mitchard that you might enjoy. www dot parade dot com
