Children for whom change has come to late.

Lord,

Thank you that You have given us the name Christian.

Now, give us the strength to carry it.

The prayer is included in God Is No Stranger by Wally Turnbull, Eleanor Turnbull and Sandra Burdick.

Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere

Why is Haiti So Poor?

  • 10% of the child population in Haiti will die before the age of 4.
  • 7% (300,000) of the children in Haiti are enslaved. They are as young as 3 years old. They often suffer sexual, emotional, physical abuse and possibly death.
  • 45% of the Haitian population is illiterate.
  • 70% of the population lives below poverty level.
  • 30% of the Haitian population is either ill and or underweight.

Statistics from The Mercy and Sharing Foundation (Their 2003 Slideshow is a powerful, graphic presentation of the harsh reality of life in Haiti.)

Be Part of the Solution:

Compassion: Releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ Name

Heifer International: Ending hunger, caring for the earth

Meds & Food for Kids: Stop malnutrition before it takes another life

Every time a child is sponsored so they can remain in their family and stay in school, every time an animal or livestock is donated to a poor family in a third world country, every time a single mother is given the resources she needs to allow her to parent her baby if she chooses, every time medications are made available to third world countries, every time people are educated about how HIV and other diseases are spread, every time prenatal care is provided to help keep mothers alive to parent their children, every time someone decides to care…we take a bite out of that elephant. Do you want to participate in a mission trip to Haiti?:

My Mission Trip: From June 30 through July 5, 2007, I participated in an Adoptive Mom’s Mission Trip to Port-Au-Prince Haiti. The trip was planned by two mom’s who have already adopted from Haiti (thanks Ange and Karla) and was coordinated through Hope for the Children of Haiti.
